Hello from RMPANA District III-

We have been a busy District this winter with the help of tele-conference. Many of our members live far away from each other. Our President Sheri Wilburn has been very dedicated on trying to keep everyone every informed what is happening in District III. Due to her dedication and the tele-conference, we have been able to have 3 meeting this year and plan a conference for this spring with the help of all of us working together. Distants can be a problem but if you are willing to keep your District informed and running smooth there are ways to do that with great technology these days. We are hoping to try Skype in the near future so it will even feel more real that we are all together.

St. Mary’s from Grand Junction District III members celebrated PANAW with a large poster signed by the peri-anesthesia nurses. Cortez District III members had the proclamation article in their local newspaper at their hospital and had a luncheon for the members.

We will be having our 1st workshop in Grand Junction, Colo on April 28th which will offer 4 contact hours. WE welcome anyone that are able to attend.

ASPAN needs your support as a host/hostess to help make National Conference a resounding success. There are plenty of opportunities to assist (e.g., staffing booths, collecting tickets, distributing handouts, etc.), an orientation is included, and you can earn some extra spending money. You must be a member of ASPAN and have registered for the conference to volunteer.

PeriAnesthesia Nurse Awareness Week (PANAW), February 6-12, marks a milestone celebration of 25 years recognizing and celebrating our specialty nurses! The theme, “PeriAnesthesia Nurses: A Vital Role in Patient Care” demonstrates the importance of perianesthesia nursing and our practice. Nationally, you collectively care for millions of patients, spanning all ages and populations, from the critically ill geriatric inpatient, to the pediatric outpatient. You are committed to comprehensive knowledge and competencies, grounded in perianesthesia-specific scientific theory. You have a profound impact on pre- and post-surgical and procedural experiences, for our patients, their families, our peers, colleagues, students, and each other.
