RMPANA STRATEGIC PLAN 2010

GOAL 1:  RMPANA will establish viable means of communication with members.

Strategies:

1.  Publish newsletter with continued quality improvement of content and increased

involvement of members.

a. Number of issues will be determined annually.

b. Publishing newsletter on website or via electronic means will be explored.

2.  Institute regular communication with members.

a.  Create task force for identifying members who have e-mail.

b.  Establish a collaborative committee to improve communication with members.

3.  Develop and maintain RMPANA website.

GOAL 2:   RMPANA will continue to evaluate the current organizational structure and future development of the component.

Strategies:

1.  Promote recruitment and retention of members.

a.  Provide incentives to new component members.

b.  Send welcome letter to new members.

c.  Educate members regarding organizational structure and benefits of membership.

d.  Recognize certified nurses and encourage certification in the perianesthesia field.

2.  Evaluate vitality of each component district biannually.

3.  Continue monitoring status of Districts II and V and work to encourage involvement.

a.  Provide support as requested by the leaders who are revitalizing District V.

b.  Evaluate feasibility of northern Wyoming district.

c.  Evaluate feasibility of re-establishing District II as a separte district

4.  Participate in ASPAN’s established recognition programs.

b.  Select applicants for ASPAN and ABPANC awards annually

GOAL 3:  RMPANA will provide continuing education specific to the perianesthesia arena.

Strategies:

1.  Make continuing education available for district offerings.

2.  Make scholarships available to members.

3.  Create a relationship with schools of nursing

a.  Develop a scholarship program for student nurses.

b.  Provide educational materials and opportunities for schools of nursing.

GOAL 4:  RMPANA will strengthen leadership development.

Strategies:

1.  Define expected duties of each office.

3.  Provide leadership training at least yearly for district leaders.

GOAL 5:  RMPANA will support community, national, or international programs that

promote health and welfare.

Strategies:

1.   RMPANA will select at least one community, national, or international program each year to

support as an organization.

2.   RMPANA will encourage Districts to select one community, national, or international

program each year to support.

GOAL 6:  RMPANA will develop and participate in research activities to support evidence-based practice.

Strategies:

1.         RMPANA will develop a committee that will be charged with identifying and developing research topics to support perianesthesia nursing practices.

2.    RMPANA will collaborate with and support ASPAN initiatives related to research.

3.         RMPANA will support member participation in National Conference Research and/or EBP and Successful Practice Oral or Poster Presentations.
